Glad I am not a redhead
I am very intrigued by the concept that redheads are harder to anesthetize than blonds and brunettes. I had never heard it before it came out in the NY Times yesterday, but apparently, it is commonly known among dentists who care about patient comfort. Dr. Bernstein posted something on his blog about it yesterday - http://www.comfortacademy.org/blogs/josh-bernstein-dds/entry/redheads-need-more-local-anesthetic.
None of my kids are redheads, but my oldest really seems to need the anesthesia. She does better when she takes a sedative the night before her dentist appointment. Lakewood, Colorado dentist, Dr. Scott Greenhalgh, has done a great job with her and he has her full confidence. I think that is 90% of the battle.

Redheads, comfort etc...
Sounds like Scott's doing a great job for your daughter, Dan. The reason we created the Dental Comfort Academy was to help dentists with patients like your daughter--with ideas on comfort. And to help patients by connecting them with dentists like Scott who are focused on comfort.
