How is the economy impacting your dental practice?
Are you finding fewer patients willing to spend money on elective procedures? Are patients putting off some procedures and then having to have more serious work done later? How has it affected your bottom line? Have you taken any steps to improve your practice in this economy?

For dentists, now is the time
For dentists, now is the time to focus on things that really matter to patients and comfort is definitely at the top of the list. If you have blankets, use them. If you have topical, let it work for 5 minutes. If you're giving an injection, whether you have The Wand or not, give the injection slowly. If you have movies in your office, let the patients watch them. Don't keep the patients waiting. Run on time. See one patient at a time. Ratchet up the customer service. If you are trained in sedation, use it!
Now more than ever
Now more than ever, patients seem to understand the importance of their health. Patients who wouldn't think of increasing their discretionary spending do not hesitate to save a tooth. I feel very lucky to be a dentist now as always.
